Dr. Feeley graduated from Taylor University and then from Indiana University School of Dentistry. In 1979, he began his practice in Essex Junction, Vermont.

Dr. Feeley enjoys lecturing to the Vermont Tech Hygiene School, the Expanded Function Dental Assisting Program, as well as the Essex Technical Center Dental Assisting Program. He is a part-time clinical instructor at the University's Hygiene School. Member Affiliations include: American Dental Society, the Vermont State Dental Society, Champlain Dental Society. He is past chairman of the Vermont Peer Review Committee and Delta Dental Insurance Plan.

At home Dr. Feeley looks forward to time with his wife and children. Personal activities include tennis, running, playing the trombone and coaching basketball and cross country.

Dr. Kanan grew up in Montreal. He attended McGill University and obtained his undergraduate degree in Marine Biology. He then went on to Dental School at Northwestern University graduating December 1996 in the Early Graduation Program with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. At the same time, Dr. Kanan attended Kellogg Business School at Northwestern and successfully completed a business management track. In 1997, Dr. Kanan joined Fletcher Allen Health Care where he completed two residencies in General Practice and Anesthesiology. In 1999, he joined Dr. Feeley at Essex Family Dental.

Dr. Kanan loves spending time with his wife and two children Amr and Sana. He also enjoys skiing, playing squash, and reading.

Dr. Makay was born and raised in a small farming community in Southwest Michigan in the village of Decatur, Michigan (pop. 1500). Throughout his childhood and adolescence he enjoyed participating in competitive sports and outdoor activities. Upon graduation from high school he attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College where he played basketball for the KVCC Cougars, a one of a kind team and leadership experience. From KVCC he was accepted to Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where he began his pursuit for an education in dentistry. At Michigan State University he received a Bachelor of Science degree in physiology. Dr. Makay was then accepted to the University of Michigan Dental School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Following his Dental education he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan in May of 2000. Upon graduation he attended a General Practice Residency at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vermont. It was here that Dr. Makay developed several relationships in the local dental Community and also gathered an understanding of the need for dentistry in the state of Vermont. It was not long before he was approached by Dr. Feeley and Dr. Kanan to become a part of their practice at Essex Family Dental. Today they have developed a partnership that not only works great but also is allowing them to provide quality dental care for their patients and community. Dr. Makay has to say “The most rewarding part of being a dentist is providing a quality service to those in need and seeing the gratitude from those patients”.

Dr. Makay and his wife Melissa reside in Hinesburg. Melissa is a 4th grade school teacher and they are both very happy to announce the expectancy of their first child to be delivered in late September.
