Dr. Bloom and his wife of 40 years (now 56 years), Susan, moved to Vermont in June, 2008, to be closer to their 5 granddaughters and 1 grandson, three of whom live in Colchester, Vermont, and three in New York City. “We were geographically undesirable grandparents. The visits were too short and the good-byes were too painful. We were missing the growing and strong relationship with our 5 granddaughters and grandson.” Since moving to South Burlington, we’ve been able to go to soccer games and swim meets, ballet classes and art classes, and Grandparent Days.
